CHINA 2010 – THE XXL (EXTRA EXTRA LARGE)

China is a country where everything is either done to the extreme or as Bruce Mau puts it, is XXL (in reference to his most famous architectural handbook, “S M L XL”).

It is also a country where various dichotomies meet; it is where the East meets the West, where traditional values and architecture mesh with the modern, where the country aims to surge ahead while preserving its dynastic and Post-Cultural Revolution history for economic tourism. It is also a country of vast landscapes, from land and sea, and one filled with a rich dialogue between its culture, its land and its people.

My attempt to capture and to document the richness of this magnificent country also allowed me to explore and uncover my own ethnic roots during my travels there (circa April to August 2010).
