An ultra modern metropolis, Shanghai is one of China’s most eclectically dynamic cities. With a population of 23 million people (Toronto: 2.5 million, NYC: 8 million), it is one of the most populated cities in the world.
A city rich in western influence since the early 1900s due to it being one of China’s port cities (post- Opium War with Great Britain), Shanghai and as a result of the Chinese government ease in foreign affairs, has slowly reopened its doors to the West in order to once again become Asia’s gateway into the East.
