07 HONGCUN & XIDI VILLAGE – UNESCO World Heritage Sites

Situated in the rural Anhui province, Hongcun & Xidi village (11th century) are two of China’s many UNESCO World Heritage sites. The sites are made famous for their master planning and architecture through their basic practices of sustainability and the use of local techniques and materials.

The villages serve as great importance to modern architects and urban planners alike as they serve as examples of green building design before the world entered into the Industrial Revolution.
